2025-09-04 More Moiser

Blaine - Cheers!

We had a bit of a slow morning.  Brad and Blane arrived around 11:00.  After they unpacked, we headed over to Sailworks to talk with Bruce and Dale.  They have a new fellow working there - Dave - who seems friendly as well.   There were a few "minor" purchases.  I purchased a new shorter fuselage for my foil and left one for them to sell.  Apparently it will make it easier to pump and turn, but will take a bit to get used to.  Kent was looking at a new Titanium Foil fuselage.  It is heavy but very stiff...

With only 5 of us, it is easier to make decisions, but it still took a while to decide on Moiser.  The event site is close this week for the big annual Windsurf Equipment show, so everything in the corridor is a gong show.

We got to Moiser around 1:30.  There were only a couple of people out, but it looked windy enough.  Kent went out on his 5.2 and told Ross, Brad and Blaine he would do a reach and give a thumbs up if it was good.  He did that - and then Ross went out on his 4.. wtf.

Blaine and Brad went out on their 5.2's, but Brad turned around and re-rigged to a 4.5 right away, while Blaine hung on for a while before returning to shore for a rest and to re-rig to a 4.5 as well.

Kent, kept hanging on to his 5.2 and sailed for longer than I did doing 67km.  Ross won the day with over 70km but he says no he hurts....  We all came in when the wind seemed to be lightening up and getting further from shore.

Kent - putting up with Ted harassing him with a camera!

I was a a bit nervous about the short fuselage, but I shouldn't have been.  Other than it took a while to get out to the wind line so I could get going, it was no issue.  I had a great session.  I tried a few tacks, but without success.  I did have success learning to switch my feet before my Jibe when on Starboard.

I sailed for almost 2 hours and did 31km.  Pretty good for me.

Everyone had a good day.  There was discussion between Ross and Kent about racing to the red buoy.  Apparently if there are two or more sailors on the water, and there is a Red Buoy upwind, then the race is ON - no matter what - it is just supposed to be understood - and definitely no excuses.  Apparently some sailors, (we won't name the kiter), were backing off because there wasn't enough wind so claiming there wasn't a race...

Dale Cook and Dave showed up as we were de-rigging.  Too bad we missed them.  From his track, it looked like Dale had a great session - he seems to be able to make anything work.

We packed up and then went to the Hood River Taqueria for supper, and finally, as if we hadn't already eaten enough, to Mike's Ice Cream stand for a cone.

Early to bed, everyone pretty well spent!
